Since Walter Hicks founded St Austell Brewery almost 160 years ago, brewing fine ales has been at the heart of our business. Today the Victorian Tower Brewery which looks out proudly over St Austell Bay is busier than ever, brewing award-winning cask and bottled ales for customers across the South West and throughout the UK.
With an unfailing commitment to quality and innovation, we produce many of the South West's most successful and popular beers including, Tribute Ale, Proper Job, HSD and Trelawny, ales of which Walter Hicks would have been proud.
Big Job is a BIG beer, 7.2% alcohol, dry as a bone and jammed full of Cornish barley and as many Citra and Centennial hops as we could get our hands on. It’s not subtle, but if you love the taste of big, powerful hops Big Job will be just the Job for you!
Proper Job is an authentic IPA brewed with Cornish spring water and malt made from a blend of malts including Cornish grown Maris Otter barley. A powerfully hopped golden bitter that explodes with citrus grapefruit flavours.
Served chilled Proper Job is a refreshing barbeque drink which is fantastic with marinated meats, burgers and flame grilled sausages.
Style: Indian Pale Ale
A Supreme Champion Ale of Cornwall as voted by CAMRA*, and the South West's Favourite cask beer**, Tribute is a popular favourite across Cornwall, the South West and the rest of the UK. It is brewed using specially grown Cornish Gold Malt and is a perfect accompaniment to chicken, gammon or fish. The ideal alternative to a fine white wine.
Roger Protz, Editor Good Beer Guide, wrote: "Tribute is a magnificent example of a bronze coloured English bitter, with a rich aroma of biscuity malt and tart citrus fruit from the Willamette hops. Juicy malt, hop resins and tangy fruit coat the tongue, while the finish is long and lingering, with a fine balance between malt, hops and fruit, finally becoming dry and bitter."
