Babich East Coast Pinot Noir 2015

We were the first New Zealand company to win a Gold Medal for Pinot Noir back in the early 80's. Henderson and Marlborough vineyards contribute to this lighter style Pinot Noir which displays red cherry flavours with an earthy finish.

The nose has plentiful aromas of black current, raspberry, spicy dark plums and suggestions of mushroom.  Attractive dried herb notes are also in attendance.  Upfront the palate is red and dark fruits with lots of cherries and strawberries.  A pleasantly textured wine with fine tannins and a medium weight.  An easy drinking Pinot Noir with intensity and a very good spicy length.

This comes from the Vosne Romanee side of the village and it tastes like it, with a spicy and rich mouth-feel good weight, and a terrific length. Big and succulent for Nuits, this is a treat, and shows its purity of fruit very clearly. It is an excellent wine.

Sourced from very old Sangiovese vines, the Testamatta appears a lovely ruby-red colour and on the nose releases a magnificent, elegant bouquet: fruits of the forest, humus notes, tobacco, spices, chocolate, mineral touches... On the palate it is refined, with smooth tannins, pure, with considerable body and a long finish.
An easy-going and open Sangiovese, very representative of the region it comes from, especially recommended for a lively meal among friends, with hare, for example, or with a simple tasty fillet steak and mushrooms.

Three Classic Varieties used in this blend ahve been grown in McLaren Valley and represent some of our oldest vines.The blend is dominate in Grenache for fruitness.Shiraz to preovide richness and depth and mourvedre too add spice.The wines were matured in a mixtue of oaks barrels for 26 months to ass layers of compelexity.As this wine has been treated with respect in our cellar.A harmless crust may result with maturation.

Recommended food pairing: Steak, lamb roasts and hearty stews.

Château Monbrison Haut-Médoc de Monbrison 2010

A blend of 54% Cabernet Sauvignon and 46% Merlot. Opaque black crimson red colour with dark crimson hue. Quite perfumed top note aromas of ripe blackcurrant and liquorice greet the nose followed by some more subtle black cherry, light cigar box and spice scents. The palate possesses good richness within its medium bodied frame delivering flavours of blackcurrant alongside some more nuanced characters of black cherry and liquorice with underlying cedar and spice. Slightly dryish but very fine grained tannins impart some chewiness on the finish. Long blackcurrant, cedar, subtle earth and spice aftertaste.

Chateau Reserve De La Comtesse 2007

Juicy and unique, offering a cassis bush aroma backed by sweet tobacco, plum cake and fig sauce notes that are fleshy for the vintage, followed by a long finish of charcoal, black currant and bittersweet cocoa. Lightly firm in the end, but with a nice core.
